Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no arrests are in custody, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the property overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," an official report confirmed.
Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but fell down a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were found at the scene.
Appeal for Witnesses
Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to establish their destination," stated a police chief.

His sister, a close relative, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.
"I am in shock. I am shattered," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were willing to tackle. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the citizens to not sharing disturbing footage from the scene, explaining this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's young family.
His Professional Legacy
Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a South African broadcasting platform.
Apart from his work in broadcasting, Stock was involved in various business ventures, including protective services, offering VIP protection services and protecting high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in building administration and was involved in building evictions.

His murder has shocked the country and led to an outpouring of tributes from his fans, the authorities and political parties.
A cabinet official said he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's killing.
"He spoke his truth boldly and honestly. He even spoke up against me and my actions as a minister. He was a true embodiment of who we should be," the minister added.
A political leader said the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a trauma for all South Africans".
A industry leader expressed that "DJ Warras was not merely a face of a reality series. He was a skilled narrator, a dedicated enthusiast of music and a generous spirit who brought joy and energy to every moment on screen. His artistic passion left an lasting impression."
In a statement, the broadcaster he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his presence, warmth and quick humor, adding that his legacy "will live on".
