19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had led some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.

He saved four initial break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
